ACMG Remixes Gotye

It’s not exactly rock and roll, but there is something about Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used To Know” that has grabbed our attention. Now, we realize this isn’t brand spankin’ new by any means, seeing how the single was released in July of last year and the album came out in December. Still, it’s arguably one of the biggest songs around right now.

According to the Brisbane Times, the tune has enjoyed #1 success in 17 countries, including nabbing the coveted top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Gotye recently performed on Saturday Night Live, no doubt claiming millions of new fans.

As we all know, with great success, comes many remixes and covers. Perhaps the best known cover comes from Walk Off The Earth, with their “five person playing one guitar” rendition of the song. It’s getting dangerously close to 100 million views since January 5th, 2012.

I’m proud to say that we have found our favorite remix of the song, courtesy of Atomic Clock Music Group. I had a few minutes with Zou Zou, the mind behind the remix, and I asked him why contribute a remix when there are already hundreds out there?

“Why? For a song as popular as ‘Somebody That I Used To Know,’ I was not satisfied with the remixes we had heard and figured we would throw our hat into the ring to see if we could do it justice. Everyone has been losing their minds over the original,” Zou Zou said. “We wanted to use as many elements from the song as possible and not just a thumping kick over top of the original version.”

Well, they succeeded. And in celebration of the release of this remix, it appears that Zou Zou and ACMG have joined the rest of humanity by joining Facebook. “We’re satisfied and figured it was a good way to launch the new Fan Page,” confirmed Zou Zou.
